Are people really talking up a Sulu-helmed show, or are you just funning us, Paarmann? People besides George Takei, I mean.

One response is here. Another response might be:
"True, but let's compare quality when BG has racked up a number of hours of TV and feature films equal to the Trek franchise.
If that happens.
Heck let's talk when the new BG hits the seven year mark."

Truth be told, I'm almost afraid to "fall in love" again. I start watch something other than Trek (Farscape, Firefly, Dark Angel, Angel, et. al.) anymore and the networks pull the plug on it before its time. Sometimes before it's even had a chance to really get going. (First two seasons of TNG, anyone?)
Buffy had a normal seven year run, but I only started watching it as a regular in season six. Probably the only thing keeping "Lost" on the air right now is that local station keeps bumping it for Cyclone basketball and I can't see it. Things I don't watch (the Stargate shows come to mind) seem to keep chunking away, however. Enterprise had better watch out: I've finally found the new UPN affiliate here and can watch again. It is surely doomed this season.
For a whole host of reasons.
I hope BG is as good as advertised. Perhaps I can take the coward's way out and let it run its course without watching and becoming attached to it and then buy it to enjoy on DVD after it's been cancelled.

All points well taken. I can't believe Arrested Development got renewed. I'm even less lucky with food products. Bring back my Pepsi Blue!
Anyway, at least Galactica got a whole season. The folks in the U.K. have already seen all thirteen episodes and have been rhapsodic about the it, especially the finale. I've been a good boy about avoiding spoilers.

But where are the cool gadgets? Communcators, phasers, red shirts with little rocket emblems. How can I express my inner geek without MERCHANDISING?!?!

Starbuck raises a good point. You know that I'd be more enamored of checking out the new Battlestar Galactica series if it was supported by some decent merchandise.
