Nimoy Makes Me Cry
Beloved actor/director pays no attention to own movie, slights entire state.
So, anticipating this weekend's Star Trek related activities, I have been catching up on my director's commentaries. The other night while watching Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home With Some Whales and listening to the commentary by Nimoy and Shatner, I was dumbstruck to hear the following (listen for yourself by cuing it up to 1:04:50, the scene in the Italian restaurant):
Nimoy (explaining all the exposition that has to take place in the scene, and so talking in the character of Kirk): "I'm from Idaho."
Idaho.
IDAHO!
Mind you, this is before Kirk actually says the line we all love, but well after his earlier reference to being from Iowa (in Gillian's pickup truck).
Oh, the humanity.
