- This
figure was one of the "Classic Movie
Series" figures produced by
Playmates. This series was produced
in 1995 and featured characters from
the six "original crew" movies
including Khan, Chang (Christopher
Plummer), Saavik (Kristie Alley),
Martia (Iman, from the sixth film),
and five of the original crew in
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
uniforms. My figure was purchased at
the Wal-Mart in Independence, IA for
a discount price. This series hit
the bargain bins early, despite
several well-sculpted pieces and has
not fared too well on the
collector's market. Perhaps the
brilliant decision to make half of
the figures in their bland
pajama-uniforms from the first film
rather than the much sharper "Wrath
of Khan" uniforms has been a factor
in their overall lack of
popularity.
-
- Unopened,
this figure will now fetch an
average of $7.00 on the secondary
market. Opened and intact, the
figure will average $3.00. Commander
Kruge features articulation at the
neck, shoulders, biceps, elbows,
waist, hips and knees. The face is a
relatively good likeness of
Christopher Lloyd's character from
the third movie, although the body
is somewhat disproportionate. All in
all, he looks decent enough to be
kicked (in the face) off a cliff by
one of the Kirk figures ("I ... have
had enough ... of ..
you!").
-
This was a
relatively simple (and cheap) figure
for Playmates. The only original piece
is the head. The body is a repaint of
the "Klingon Warrior" Worf body which
was also reused for the "Supernova
Series" Klingon Worf (the body was
chromed) and the Gowron in "Ritual
Klingon Attire" figure (Gowron's head
on the repainted body).
