BIYF Festival Entertainment Archive

A prime component of every BIYF Festival to date has been some fine, fine cinema and entertainment. I'm (finally) trying to be fairly inclusive on this page, so members of The Collective should be sure to remind me of the titles or festival activities I've left out. I'm sure I'm just repressing anything I might have missed.

As I work to catalog this delightful array of film and fun we've amassed over the years, I've somewhat arbitrarily divided up the entries as follows (with help from the Benevolent BIYF Movie Dictator):

Home Viewing
Anything we've watched at a "home base" location, primarily Jim and Suz's with one notable exception (2001).

  • Bitter Dregs
The Bitter Dregs sub-category encompasses most of these entries and that's where most of the pain can be found.
  • Palate Cleansers
The Palate Cleansers sub-category is for those entries generally considered to be decent entertainment by The Collective and not worthy of being tarnished by the "BIYF-Worthy" or "BIYF-able" label. There may be some dispute as to which category some entries belong in. Collective members should, by all means, let me know if I've erred in my analysis.
  • Home Brew
I've also added a Home Brew sub-category to cover amateur/Internet entries since it seems likely this is an area that might grow and it doesn't seem fair to compare those to the big-budget stuff we usually watch. Fair to the big-budget stuff, that is.

Away Viewing
Anything we've left a "home base" location to go view.

  • On Film
The On Film sub-category covers anything we've gone to a movie theater to view at a BIYF Festival.
  • In Person
The In Person sub-category encompasses everything else from live theater to museum exhibits. "Away" entries are not grouped by quality.
